Not really a question, just an update and thank you for all the advice and support and sympathy with evil gallbladder saga.

A bit of a hitch in feeling very ill and in a lot of pain and being sent to A&E by GP a couple of days before op and them finding another infection elsewhere (for sqad update - more blood and now leukocytes in wee) on top of my gallbladder going crazy but ok'd for op provided on antibiotics.

Went in Friday for op and all done laproscopic, said it was nasty and on the way to septic, very inflamed and there was a split and some loose stones out and a lot still in but got them out. Still very sore and think I maybe underestimated the recovery pain (gotta love morphine!) and period (other infection maybe not helping) but very very glad it's gone :)

Looking forward to getting back to normal :)

:-)...well played.

Thank you :) Wow Mike, impressive! I was in agony when I woke up in recovery but they said they gave me a big dose of morphine and it knocked me back out and woke up back on the ward.

It's very sore where the gallbladder was and the two larger of the cuts round and over my belly button are tender but think some of it is the gas they pump you up with as been quite burpy! Maybe some more jigging about with instruments too with the split and loose stones so probably just understandbly a little more bruised inside. Not able to get out the house yet as too sore but sure it'll settle down soon, wounds all nice and clean and fine. It'll sort in it's own time, just glad it's out :)

Ahh Sqad, I think surgeons are my new heros :) The staff generally were all fantastic, first on the list and very quick getting sorted and down and anaesthetist and surgeon both came to see me and explained everything. Was in bed 13 which caused a bit of a laugh! I felt very well looked after.
Glad to hear all is going well. Speaking from experience, you must take it easy and listen to your body. If it says "have a lie down" then do it!

I didn't know anything about the gas to inflate you till I went to the practice nurse to get the dressing changed and she mentioned it. I was quite surprised.
Get well soon Jenna.
To mike11111 How do you get away with alcohol? My husband developed acute pancreatitis of unknown cause (poss a passing gallstone) and was told by specialists that ANY alcohol could trigger another attack at any time so he has been teetotal for 15 years and only ever had the odd sip of wine on special occasions. :-(
Ah bless you Jenna - get well soon, the sunshine will help lift your spirits, if you have a nice day like we do in the Midlands at the mo :)
I am glad it is over for you Jenna, I hope all continues to go well.xx
Yoga, I think that alcohol was most likely the cause of my problems. At the time I was drinking a bottle of gin per day. However this was never mentioned and I was never warned off it. I still drink, though nothing like the extent to which I used to. I must admit, though that during my dry periods I do feel much better.
Well done jenna...glad is out.....keep posting let us know how your going....and take all the pain relief...youll b back on top form in no time hunny xxx
jenna, im so happy you have had your surgery, i had the same surgery but sadly my experience resulted in many operation and specialist treatment in a liver ward because of injury to the common bile duct at surgery, take care
This might explain your soreness. Take a look at what I do on a daily basis (not the procedure! I set up the TV's and look after the insufflator, the machine that pushes the CO2 into you and maintains the pressure throughout).
Some surgeons enter via the umbilicus (navel), some just above it.
Again, dependant on the surgeon's preference some enter a catheter into the common bile duct in order to ensure it's free of stones, some don't.

Thanks all :) Ooh yeah that might explain it Phil! Thanks for the link, must be an interesting job! Ooh Anne, that must have been awful after the gallbladder pain and surgery in itself!

Am getting there, still quite sore but can feel I'm healing up. Had to have one of the wounds checked out earlier (the largest one down from my bellybutton) as it still looked open when I took the dressing off to change when having a shower. Had it checked by a lovely nurse and he said it had broken down and got a bit infected so got some antibiotics and he dressed it and I have to go back to get it checked and the dressing changed on Thursday. Figured best to get it checked early with my track record of infection and glad I did.

Other than that I'm doing good. Taking it easy and been very well looked after by my mum :)
Glad you are progressing well Jenna :) thanks for the update
good news jenna, insist they take a wound swab when you next see the nurse.

Thanks both. Hadn't thought of that Anne, I will do! I think I must just have some kind of latent bacteria on my skin with the number of skin infections, abscesses etc... (and other infections) I get so definitely worth seeing. Will see if they can do it at the wound clinic tomorrow, my GP practice don't do it and went there before when I had had an abscess removed and if they can't I'll see if one of the practice nurses at my GP surgery can do it.

Still quite slow going, think I really underestimated recovery! Managed to venture out a bit earlier to sit for a quiet coffee to see my mum off home and was very glad to get back on the sofa. Felt quite vulnerable in case anyone knocked into me and on the bus with it being so busy/fast moving city wise. Nice to get some fresh air and a change of scene though, bit sick of the sight of my sofa :)

Just another update, doing ok, still sore but moreso tender and uncomfortable than really painful now :)

Had my wound check this morning and she said it's looking like it's starting to heal over - it's stayed more of a teardrop shape about an inch down from my bellybutton and healing over as it opened so guessing a bit of a scar from it but better than having a skanky gallbladder :)

Don't think the belly stud is ever going back in though (just the thought, ouch!) but not really bothered about that! Get it checked again Monday. Nurse said it looks like it might overheal (?) but that if it does they can do something about it so that's all good.

Other 3 op sites are fine :) Quite a few red spots around the upper one and been weeping a little (nothing icky) but hoping they will clear up now the dressing is off that one - think it might be the glue around it irritating my skin as some up around the wound but hoping it'll sort itself and come off as not going faffing and risking pulling it or anything. No problem at all with the side ones, healing lovely!
