White line down screen

Just started up my PC, and I have a white line down the length of it, about one third way in from the left.
Any ideas anyone, please.

Rebooted, removed masking tape. tippexed the line, and it's still there :(

...check for the obvious...could it be a piece of string?...then carry on with the process of elimination.

I had the problem with blue lines across my screen..............they just eventually went away (fingers crossed)

My line is top to bottom
Wonder if it is that solar flare thingummabaob??

It's on the side, so can't be a plimsole line. Some really stupid answers now!
