On UK Gold they are celebrating 20 years of Blackadder and they have shown a special episode, Blackadder - The Cavalier Years. Stephen Fry played Charles the First but can anyone tell me which politician he was imitating?

Possibly it's not a politician but the voice, the mannerisms and the speech patterns are really, really familiar.
Ah, another fine installment of the Blackadder series... Filmed on the sets used for Blackadder III, The Cavalier Years was filmed as a Comic Relief special. Notoriously hard to obtain, it was issued first on a BBC video "Exclusive Relief" and more recently as an extra on the Blackadder Back and Forth DVD. The mannerisms and accent adopted by Stephen Fry are those of Prince Charles from around the same time (when he was banging on about architecture and inner cities) and very good they are too.
Could it possible be that he had a premonition of Mr Blair...? LOL
