I wonder if we will react in the same way that some did over the burning of the Koran?

Can one see us taking o the streets, attacking the Libyan Embassy, or even murdering folk, over this sacrilege?

No, no matter how disgusting we see all this, we are civilised, more than be said for this rabble, and their followers.

AOG - I posted a message to you on the 'David Starkey' thread - have you read it?
Typical naïve post, from you, just following your agenda.

Libya has just gone through a civil war , which suggests that not everyone is in agreement with the new government. The British, amongst others, gave aid to the rebels, so its possible that some people wanted some form of retribution.

This could be one person or a few. Of course it was wrong and should be condemned, however I would think the government may have one or two other priorities. Or do I have this wrong, if someone should burn a Koran in Birmingham we should condemn every Britain for it and use every resource to catch them?

I love your dual standards desecration of Muslim graves doesn’t count because it was in April last year, however I wonder if you can tell me how long the riots in High Wycombe went on for as I appear to have missed this point. Oh and have the vandals been caught?

As for a British reaction, some of us may be more civilised but unfortunately, not all.

/// Libya has just gone through a civil war , which suggests that not everyone is in agreement with the new government. The British, amongst others, gave aid to the rebels, so its possible that some people wanted some form of retribution. ///

It has been reported that this attack was all part of the on-going retribution for the burning of the Koran, and therefore had no connection with the recent uprising..

/// Or do I have this wrong, if someone should burn a Koran in Birmingham we should condemn every Britain for it and use every resource to catch them? ///

Apparently this is the Islamic attitude, blame all Westerners, and even kill some, just because four US service personnel who unknowingly burnt a few Koran, and incidentally the US authorities will be carrying out a full inquiry over this episode.

Which is in fact the whole point of my original thread, "Can one see us taking to the streets, attacking the Libyan Embassy, or even murdering folk, over this sacrilege"?

"No, no matter how disgusting we see all this, we are civilised, more than be said for this rabble, and their followers".

But of course since then the whole thread has been taken out of it's original context, as is always the case.

/// I love your dual standards desecration of Muslim graves doesn’t count because it was in April last year, ///

You also have chosen to take something I posted and twist it to fit your own agenda.

If you had cared to read Gromit's post more careful he posted this passage "The graves were vandalised between 2100 BST on Wednesday and 0800 BST on Thursday".

I was merely putting a date to those times to stop any confusion, and point out that the graves were vandalised last year and not in retaliation for the recent war graves vandalism.

/// however I wonder if you can tell me how long the riots in High Wycombe went on for as I appear to have missed this point. Oh and have the vandals been caught? ///

No idea I also missed it, as Gromit was quick to point out, so because Gromit went to so much trouble delving back into the annuals of time, perhaps you should ask him.

I hope all this clarifies things for you, but I don't suppose it will, you and others will continue to distort fact, so as to put your own individual twist on things

AOG as I have posted so many tiimes you think people are stupid, you treat us all as idiots whislt think you are being oh so clever.

Why highlight the high wycome date at all, no need and again in your own stupidity you miss the point there were no riots so was that because the muslim population of High Wycombe are just law abiding citizens i.e not the rabble you so wish to portray or don't they care?

Attempting to justify your racist rantings may make you feel smug but it just show who you are.
AOG - are you ignoring me?
I was going to ask him that myself Andy.
AOG ignores those who have cornered him, a very familiar technique of his as well as irrelevant parallel comments to try and distract folk away from the inane remarks that he has made or out of the hole that he has dug.
they didnt give ghadaffi a fair trial what chance a few gravestones

No Andy I am not ignoring you I have been busy on the thread in question, instead of littering up this thread with details that are not relevant to this subject.

Does that mean I will now have to accept yet another apology :0)

ummmm

Don't be nosy, it's no business of yours :0(
No - you don't have to accept it - but it is offered.
Sorry you caught the fallout ummm - for what it's worth, I think in the spirit of mutual interest and exchanges within the AB format, your observation was valid.
I'm not being nosey AOG. I read Andy's apology without knowing what went on. I also read Andy, on at least two occasions, trying to point you to it.

As someone who has had someone else post from my account....I know that feeling of dread when you read what they have posted.

I enjoy reading you two exchanging views...I wouldn't want that ruined by an outsiders sense of humour.

/// AOG as I have posted so many tiimes you think people are stupid, you treat us all as idiots ///

Not all people, only those that cannot comprehend certain issues that one has tried to explain.

/// Why highlight the high wycome date at all, ///

Already explained to you, I could not make it any clearer to a 5 year old.

/// again in your own stupidity you miss the point there were no riots ///

Already pointed out to you, I had no idea of any of the details of the High Wycombe incident, as I have already told you, it was Gromit who posted on this.

Idiocy and stupidity is in your court not mine.

Don't bother a reply, because I have lost my patience with you, not only because you appear not very quick on the uptake but because you obviously cannot conduct a debate without the need for personal insults.

And before you or anyone else says "what about your own insults", I will say "that I will always reply like for like", there is no place for personal insults on AnswerBank, it only fosters ill feeling.
Thanks ummm - a little perspective is always welcome - i for one have been known to get a bit giddy during the passion of an exchange of views, but we should all endevour to leave rudeness out of our posts - I think that's a good point to enforce.
The vandalism in Libya were purely sectarian. They were attacking graves which had a cross or the Star of David on them. Similar sectarian vandalism goes on in Northern Ireland but no one has called for the RAF to bomb there.

The point of my earlier post, which you clearly missed, was that muslim (and Jewish) grave stones are often vandalised in this country. It is very regrettable, as is the Libyan damaged, but it does not make us all uncivilised or a rabble.

My earlier post was in // quote lines // so were the BBCs report not my words, and I included a link which clearly showed it was not connected to or in retaliated to the Libyan vandalism.

The majority of Libyans are grateful we help in ridding them of a tyrant. The handful who did this do not represent the country or even all muslims.

In jest Andy, in jest.

Notice the smiley.
Sorry - feeling a little vulnerable after upset caused by another - I will calm down and try not to see malice where obviously none was intended.
