Safely back from checkup at hospital, and having all staples removed from operation site (25 in a nice line, good stitching), feels really good not to have the "cricket bat" splint contoured onto the back of my knee, (but feels slightly weird after 16 days entombed within it's clammy embrace), lifting knee without support felt really strange - not having had to self support my knee with muscle power only. Had to have help for the 1st lift of leg.

Now, in flexible splint, currently set @ 0-30 degrees for next two weeks, then gets adjusted as the flexibility of my knee allows.

Many thanks to all my fellow AB'ers for their best wishes and support in teh last few weeks, I promise to keep the updates coming as I know more.

I'll post the photo later (not a yukky one, promise) :-)

It's better than the ouch! ouch! ouch! when first injured, jj.. I'm just glad the doctors are pleased with the outcome so far.. Next step, a few steps!
Nibble I hope you become more mobile soon.

As a side question, and please be honest, does it hurt getting the staples out? I am due to get mine out next Thursday and I am wanting them to knock me out before they do it! I'm petrified!! lol x
Lol, do you know anywhere that sells morphine too?? :)
Question Author
Unfortunately, it will hurt because they'll use a staple remover to extract them, I seriously advise to take your pain relief, if you are allowed/are prescribed any before you get there to get them removed, as this will lessen the feelings of tightness around the staples when they're being removed.

But the nurse will be very good to put you at ease before they start, and if you feel any pain at all then ask them to stop for a while.

I hope this isn't too alarming for you, vodka, but I felt that you should be aware of the procedure.

I'll have everything crossed for you for next Thursday. :-))
Thanks so much for being honest. Tramadol is on the brekkie menu next Thursday! :)
mine just itched when they came out i think

Boxy offered to do that to me as well, vodkancoke, told her nooooooooo!

Let the professionals do it, it's their job.
Keep it going - we have some excellent booze to replace the morphine, nibble.....

For you, vodka, a bottle or two of Mongolian product should suffice:http://www.whiskyminibottles.eu/Conte

Might have to pass on the araq, though. It'd interfere with the grey cells, and every other cell in my body.
nibble and voddy all best wishes to you. hope the results are worth the pain.
