Best advice is to phone the pensions helpline. They have been very helpful and efficient with me.

Thank you both.
She will reach State Retirement age on 6 November 2014.
Has it changed then, I got mine at 60, although they said if I held off until I was 65 I would get more, hold off? I might have died and got nothing!!!
As my wife was still working when she qualified at 60 for her state pension she deferred it until she retired two years later. She had to pay tax on it, of course, but it was only when she did she found out that the tax office had already been taxing her on it directly from her salary over the previous two years assuming she was receiving it already! Still, she got a good rate of interest, a load of back tax, plus interest on the tax already paid.
This has been the only time in my life where I have benefited from being my age......................my poor daughter will have to work until she is 67 before she qualifies for a state pension.
