How to weigh your cat accurately?

My cat has a tendency to put on weight. Recent trip to the vet revealed that he has put on 1 kg in 6 months! That means he's now 6 kg. He is quite a big cat, and tends to look okay at around 5.2 kg - but 6!!! I need to be able to weigh him accurately, particularly because he is now on arthritis medication and the dosage is related to weight. Also to stop this happening again. Has anyone tried those human digital scales for doing this and do they weigh accurately at low weights? Thanks.

These go up to 12kg, for weighing lambs I believe.

Probably not accurate enough though, sorry!
Digital bathroom scales have a weighing-cell with very good resolution and are very accurate even at lowish weights. Place a washing-basket on scale, tare (ie zero) and place cat in. Read weight.
put basket on scale with cat treats and then zero before putting cat in it might stay in the basket then,
....btw, they commonly weigh to 100gm. precision or better.

Oh great - I might just invest in one then.
weigh yourself with and without cat, subtract your weight.
Rodge - you really don't need to spend that much, either. Argos or Lidl do them cheaply.
boxtops: for that to mean anything, you would have to make sure that you wore exactly the same clothes every time - or did it naked!
Thinking about that.... no you wouldn't!
A spring balance, you can get one with just the right scale for the weight of you cat (plus sack or basket). You can make a mark with a pencil each time you weigh the cat.
Wii fit has a weigh your pet option they even have their own mii and charts
go to a fishing tackle shop and get a set of fish weighing scales they have a hook on to hook a weigh sling or basket on
Yeah ^ ask for a pesola for up to 10kg. You can test the accuracy with a known weight and adjust accordingly.
I just put Eric on the scales when I weight myself weekly. If he gets fussy I put his biccys on there, he's actually pretty compliant and farely consistant around the 4.2kg mark.
yup and it works - just stick the kitty on them! x
