It's been around before and it should be read at least every day by the entire world.

An Obituary printed in the London Times - Interesting and sadly rather true.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain; Why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; And maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a child; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense lost the will to live as criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, I Want It Now, Someone Else Is To Blame, I'm A Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

http://www.jesus-is-s...ate/6yrold-sexual.htm (bottom of article)
http://www.nytimes.co...uthwash-incident.html

and now throw in Bideford and Mevagissey, never mind the BA and Hospital cross wearing issues. Common Sense is dying....
It's mainly nonsense.

Some people need to take their rose tinted glasses off.
All very sad but very true Jemisa. I worked until retirement on a Police switchboard, one day I had a caller asking for an extension which was engaged, when I told him I would connect him as soon as the extension was free the answer I got was - Your only telling me that because Im black - he then proceeded to tell me he was recording his call and if he wasnt connected immediately he would be making a complaint - extension continued to be engaged and a complaint was made against me. Reports were requested, tapes (his and mine) were listened to, and it all came to nothing - but what a waste of time and money.
DT...link 1 is American.

Link 2, I'm not sure where it's from but the kid has admitted drinking mouthwash. He was suspended for disobedience....
Barb - the world has always been full of numpties!!
Jem's item was extracted from something American, ummmm - the expression "London Times" gives it away......anyway, I must say that we seem to be a bit lacking of common sense in this country in the recent months and days, also a wanton disregard of the "silent majority" with minorities dictating the terms.......
Common sense died when he named his children Responsibility, and Reason.

I mean c'mon ... Even Paula Yates and Bob laughed at those suggestions.
Why would the expression 'London Times' give it away? Am I suppose to know that's an American paper? Is so, why?
Its an expression used on the East Coast to distinguish the Times (our one) from the New York Times and on the West Coast, from the Los Angeles Times, the largest circulation newspaper in the States.

If you hadn't been to the States, you would probably not know that.....that's what AB is in part for, the tranmission of knowledge, I believe.

Mission accomplished.
How very sad and very true
You're not that dissimilar to Mark really. Any opportunity to feel superior.

TBH - It's not something I feel I need to be educated about. Lesson wasted!
What a mis-read.....just passing on info.

Very simple. Next time you ask, and if I happen to know, then I will not respond.

How rude.
I would say the use of a 'Z' and not an 'S' gives it away.
That's true, Mick.....
