Just a little question to all clever brains here. My combi boiler has two knobs one with tap sign which I believe is for how hot water I need. The other one has radiator sign on it. What is the function of that? If that is for the temp of the water in radiators (as I assume) then where should I leave it? In the middle or to the top? Because I have a room thermo and room temp is controlled by that so what difference chinging that setting would make? if any.

Usually about three-quarters for both. No need to touch them again. You have enough control on the system already.

With a newer digital readout, heating temp is set to around 70 degrees (opinions vary as always). Hot water temp should be set to simply how hot you'd like your HW to be, but try three-quarters first.

The higher the radiator dial, the quicker the room temperature reaches that set on the thermostat

Thanks for your answer, but what is the most economical setting? Full, half way or somewhere else? If I leave it to full then does that mean it will burn more gas to maintain that temperature of the water? The reason I am asking is because this boiler is in the annexe at the back end of my garden and I only use it day time as office. Where I do want it to warm up in the morning quickly enough, I do not want to waste gas during the night for no reason.

Thanks Builder - I turned it round to three quarter as you suggested and my digital readout is showing around 70. So you were spot on. Thanks, much appreciated.
