i've been getting into funk recently and i want more!

can anyone recommend any funk music?

i'm looking for the funkiest funk known to man - either modern or old school. the sort of stuff i like at the moment is old classics like curtis mayfield, sly and the family stone and of course stevie wonder. as for modern stuff i listen to greyboy and plenty of funky artists from the ninja tune record label.

i'm looking for chunky bass lines, noodly trumpets and squidgy organs, so...

can you funk me up?!

Not really into funk, but I understand that DJ Keb Darge has brought out some Deep Funk compilations  - search under Keb Darge on amazon.co.uk.
If you like Stevie, you'll like 'Amp Fiddler / Waltz of a Ghetto Fly'

You could try Gil Scott Heron.  Or more recent go for jamiroquai, brand new heavies and young disciples.

Or James Brown, The meters or Funkadelic
If your into Curtis M, get pusherman downloaded! class!!
Groove Armada and Planet Funk are pretty damn funky.  But not in the James Brown sense.  More housey funk than funk funk.  If that makes sense.
check out one of my favourite bands at the moment, head automatica, for a different take on funk. veeeeery cool
