This was the last weekend in the reign of 'The Court Jester' (aka Kettledrum).
She asked me if I would grant her FREE reign in setting this week's links and I agreed. At Friday's 'Shrubbery' gathering you were all offered FREE parking and FREE drinks.
We were delighted that most of you had enough FREE TIME to play the game and a FREE HAND to choose whatever you wished, but sadly those two pairings never came to the fore.

Yes, the Court Jester was trying to have a final jest with you all.
Her final selection of scoring links were:

CARE FREE
TROUBLE FREE
TIME LAPSE (reserve choice)
HAND SHAKE (reserve choice)

(Yes players, that's how it works. Setters provide me with a list of 5 links ranked in order of preference for each challenge word. If the first isn't matched, then we move on to the second, and so on. That way there are satisfied players every weekend.)

Beejay1124 leapt straight in with CARE FREE and the cheerful Rockfordill and Lysander were in time for a bonus on this one as well.

Then with the clock still at 9:01, Tearinghair collected her 2 points for TIME LAPSE.

At 9:02, centrino, patchett and evsajo all fancied greeting us with a HAND SHAKE (2 points each).

That same minute, the final link of TROUBLE FREE was found by deecee131

A spattering of single points were handed out during the remainder of the game.
Amongst them though, there was a single double-hitter - Elspeth, so . . .

*** HOTSHOT OF ***
**** THIS WEEK ****
**** IS ELSPETH ****
Congratulations.

I was waiting for x-ray to play but if I wait any longer, I won't get these up by 7pm.
(Note to x-ray: Late entries will always be added to the scorecard but at the end of the month, decisions have to be taken and players have to be contacted, so an early play that weekend is vital if yo want to be included in those decisions.)

so, here are this week's scorers

2 beejay1124
2 centrino
2 deecee131
2 Elspeth
2 evsajo
2 lysander
2 patchett

2 tearinghair
1 Euphemia
1 jobjockey
1 kawakiri
1 Ont-ice (Mrs)
1 owllady

And of course it is now time to announce the result of the January championship.

We have equal leaders all on 8 points AND all with the same number of correct matches AND with the same bonus points.

**** EQUAL CHAMPIONS ****
**** FOR JANUARY 201 ****
**** IN ALPHA. ORDER ****
**** - - - BEEJAY - - - ****

All have been previous setters, but the one for whom that was longest ago is LYSANDER (all the way back to April 2008)
I therefore invite 'Lady Lysander' to once again be the setter for a month.
**** SETTER FOR FEBRUARY ****
**** WILL BE:- - - LYSANDER ****

Since 'Crofter' didn't pass on any of his records, may I ask Lysander to get in touch

Thank you 'The Court Jester' for an exciting challenge, and to everyone else for participating in this trivial game that draws us back week after week.

Until next week then, Happy Linking,

Thanks gen2 and thanks for nothing...even if it was free Court Jester!
Thank you for the honour of being hotshot this week.
Thank you gen.2 for offering me the honour once more.
Unfortunately my husband died very suddenly last week so I have lots to see.
He was sitting at the computer acknowledging delivery of wheels for a Volvo122 he had restored since he retired, with a glass of red wine beside him. What we would all wish for if granted.
I have been overwhelmed by kindness shown to me.
I shall continue to enter MM and KM games and may even look into the shrubbery for the first time.

Regards to all LYSANDER
Thank you gen2 and Court Jester. I'm glad to note that I was more successful than usual this month. I am looking forward to tackling Lysander's challenge.

Calling CENTRINO

CALLING centrino

C A L L I N G . . . C E N T R I N O

Cooo-Eeee - - Are you there?

You haven't set the links since Feb 2010 and considering Lisander's present circumstances, I wonder if you would accept the offer to step in and set the links for February?

Please get in touch on:

I await your call.
Many thanks Court jester and Gen2 - nice to have a few points on the board.
Lysander, I am so sorry to hear that. Will be thinking of you.
Lysander I am so sorry to read your very sad news. Commenting on my points doesn't seem relevant now. I send you and your family my sympathy and love. I lost my dear husband 5 years ago just after his 60th birthday so I feel for you, love from Kay x
Lysander, Mr Alba and I send our sincerest condolences to you and you family.
So sorry to hear of your sad loss lysander.
Can you believe it gen2, I thought I had submitted my entry on Saturday evening but got called away. I realised this evening (too late) that I had in fact forgotten to post them.
The only consolation is that I wouldn't have scored anything - I had Care taker, time table, trouble maker and hand made.
Congratulations to the scorers - look forward to centrinos challenge next month
Lysander, I'm sure I speak for all when I say I am so sorry for your loss.
As you say 'what we would all wish for' but so difficult for those left behind.
My condolences and thoughts are with you.
Di
To Lysander,
Deepest sympathy and sincere condolences. E
Lysander,
You have - I'm sure - all our condolences and sympathy.
We wish you well at this difficult time; but sitting at a PC doing something one enjoys, with a glass of red at hand seems as good a time as any to say goodbye.
With sympathy,
BigMac
Lysander, may I add our condolences, too?
Thanks Gen2 and Court Jester, although a completely blank month.

Lysander, please accept my heartfelt condolences at your loss. At least you have the knowledge that your husband left you doing something he enjoyed and I'm sure that he would not have suffered any prolonged pain.
