I like watching Top of The Pops on BBC 4 every Thursday. For those who don't know, they re run the episode from that week 35 years ago, and at the same time as originally shown. It's actually very strange because as well as seeing acts you can't help but remember, you also see stuff that seems new to you.

Anyway, on checking my EPG, I notice that this week it includes an appearance by Gary Glitter. Personally speaking, I do not want to see him at all on my television, and I am disgusted that they are including him rather than editing him out. Fair enough, the guy has done time for his crimes (though personally I'd have thrown away the key and let him rot) BUT I cannot ever believe that is repentant, shamed, or a changed man because of it and he disgusts me, so much so that while there is a chance of seeing him, I probably shall not watch.

I believe I read sometime back that ho considered it a breach of his rights should the BBC edit him out, and as such they have to include him. My view is that it is sort of against my rights to have to see him, and that his appearance does nothing but unnecessarily incite and inflame feelings that are better left to lie.

Am I just being picky, or does anyone else share my view?

Unsavoury as Paul Gadd may be, Gary Glitter made some stonking tunes which provided the background music for a part of my life.

I wouldn't want to see him 'now', but would be prepared to watch him 'then'. He can't be airbrushed out of musical history.

Postdog...getting angry about this may well be helping you cope with difficult feelings about the much bigger issue you face,,,, If your life wasn't so stressfull you'd probably just switch channels for a few minutes and think nothing more about it.... The thing I find odd about Garry glitter is how awful some of his lyrics are viewed in hindsight... Wouldn't listen to him now I'd just find something to do while he is on.
I agree Jack . Anyway I watch TOP to see if a fiend of mine will be on it she was the singer in Guys and Dolls and silly but true I get a kick out of seeing her on tv.
i won't not buy or pay to listen to his music but i'm not going to turn it off because he is on. like it or not he is a part of bristish musical history and you can't simply delete him no matter how much you may want to
picky. do you feel the same about anything involving phil spector or jerry lee lewis?
'against my rights to have to see him'.. 'cap's lock is considered offensive'!?
I think both of those statements are incredibly unhealthy views to hold, the bandying about of these terms is becoming a major problem in modern society.
Does anyone own a Ford car?
to be honest as awful as paul gadd is, I think people would complain if the bbc decided to edit previous episodes after making a fuss about showing them in their original format.

I notice they have had a few contentious characters like jonathan king on as well.
The BBC already tried to edit Jonathan King out of an episode of TOTP2 and, after King complained, ended up having to write a grovelling apology to him which, of course, he published on his website.

So the "leader of the gang" stays, I'd reckon...
I own a Ford.
