planting potato seeds

when is the earliest time to plant seed potatoes in containers and grow in a greenhouse to begin with.
i have some early tuber varieties and due to holidays would like them ready asap.
many thanks for any advice.

As long as you keep the frost off them you can start now but that will mean heating the greeenhouse which is a costly way to grow a few spuds. A first early crop only takes 10 weeks but this does rely on warmer weather than you will get in Jan/Feb. I would not plant any until end of March but these would still be ready by June.
I never plant before the end of March no matter how tempted i get by the mild weather, it'll be too cold at night.

As Hawk said, you won't be wanting to heat a greenhouse for three months. I really would wait if I were you.
