Avatar question

Why can't I just upload a picture from my computer to use as my avatar? Why must I sign up with gravatar to obtain an avatar?

because AB doesn't store the pictures and doesn't want to....so it uses gravatar.

But my granddaughter(15) was able to create mine fron a photo in my picture gallery!

Yes, but your grand-daughter will have had to use Gravatar in order to upload from wherever your picture was stored on your computer flicrat.

Yes you upload the picture you want to Gravatar for use as your avatar

Could you wonderful people out there give me simple insruction in how to get an avatar? I was pondering the question when rhythmcrazy's post popped up.

Just follow the destructions on here:

You upload your intended picture to Gravatar and then go into your profile here and click on make avatar active. It is simple really when gravatar works ok lol. Google Gravatar.com to get to the site.

BTW Dicky, I think you need a minimum number of postings on AB before your Avatar becomes available. Don't know the minimum number though. I'm sure someone will be along to tell you.
