You can't transfer programs between the two computers (because they'll need to be installed into the laptop's registry).

What sort of files. A memory stick would probably the easiest way, or email them to yourself and log on to your emails on the new machine.

Otherwise simply copy the files onto removable media (such as a USB flash drive) in order to complete the transfer.

You can use a usb transfer cable which puts a little inbuilt program on each computer when it is connected and then you just drag and drop your files from one computer to the other and place them in their folders etc. You can buy these cables from a computer store and it is the easiest way of transferring.It will work for Windows and Macs .
