Hello, our 5 year old has stupmed us by asking how a baby is made, so we explained that a seed grows in the ladys tummy.
Then she said well how does it get their? , so we said the man puts it their. She then asked how does the man put it in the lady? At this point i distracted her with some photos which id recently taken.
Our little girl is 5 for goodness sake, i thought this conversation was a couple of years down the line at least!!
Has anyone any experience of a child so young asking about the birds and the bees?

Certainly yes, I've heard people being asked how babies are made at a very early age - they soon lose interest, it's just curiousity - they are certainly not looking for a birds and bees lecture at that age. I was told that the mummy and daddy do a special hug - that was absolutely enough information for me at that time (and my baby brother was born when I was six, so I was definitely curious about mum's bump!).
Yep, like Boxy says. Keep it simple but tell the truth. Mum makes an egg...Dad makes sperm...and when they have special grown up hugs, egg and sperm meet and make a baby...

She won't remember this convo anyway...but it's best to be honest.
There's a great nursery book by Babette Cole called Mummy Laid an Egg. I gave it to my daughter when she started asking questions around this age and we had a great laugh reading it together :)

The Body Book by Claire Rayner was our bible when our children were young. Daughter has also used it with her children too. Well worth investing in.
