bought this music centre about 3 years ago new. ive not used it much. when you plug it in a red light at top lef hand corner lights up . when you press the button underneath the mode you selected starts up. . but sometimes i cant get it to work even if the red light is lit. sometimes it does work . so i know its not broken . its so annoying. does anyone know what the problem is please? as a woman on my own ive not much idea. thanks in anticipation.

Are they electronic buttons .. like touch buttons?
Or are they mechanical buttons?

its got a rocker system for volume and silver ttons and you work the cd player with a small remote. it just says on the back Goodmans Midi System G-00222404 087. i think now ive had it for longer than i thought but its hardly been used.

It may be the button contacts (inside/under the buttons)
Have you tried tapping the selector buttons firmly to see if it helps?
It's possible to have power supply problems and still get intermittent operation (unlikely tho with red selection lights on)
I presume you cannot select same with any of remote buttons?

I can't find it .. Another model number on front?
Is it One-piece or stacked arrangement with separate turntable? .. and is it single CD?

its a one piece system and the only other number on back (nothing on front but Goodmans) is 2718

I think it may well be the button contacts.
I checked on eBay for others .. but there are none.
I would try and find a local handy-man/electrical person that can take face off the unit and check the button contacts. That is what I would have done already .. and I'm fairly confident it is to do with that. To take and get a professional repair would be more than it's value.
