i have been given a joint of salt beef, but don't know how to cook it, do i just boil it or do i roast it, i have never had any before, help please.

yes it is already salted, thanks buenchico, that means i can just boil it then, i look forward to trying it.
I bought a joint of salt beef a couple of years ago from a very old, traditional butcher (he is in his eighties). His advice was to boil it for a few hours, then let it cool in the cooking water, in the pan over night (I know it screams of germs and bacteria etc.!) I trusted the old bloke though - and it was delicious! Try this at your own risk!
