I wasn't aware they did. My local one was always closed on Monday.
Mine closes Tuesday too
I just presumed that Mondays are busier than Tuesdays.
Ours is closed on Sunday, but so is the chippy. Think it is a by-law thing around here.
Maybe it's the least popular night for a takeaway............
Dont they just close on their quietest day? Makes perfect sense to me.
Mine closes Mondays too, we had a take-away tonight, or should I say they delivered? Nice.

jem
I always thought it was a business decision, some around here are open all week. Mine has been shut for the last two months but has just re-opened, I am going to investigate later this week.
York used to have a by-law forbidding the sale of fish on a Sunday..........I think that disappeared with the introduction of the Sunday Trading Act.

lol
Ours are closed Tuesdays as well; no idea why.
Interestingly this was also asked in 2007 (Google search) and there were only two answers; one confirming the quietest day of the week theory.
mine's open all week
