I buy brussel sprouts and cauli and broccoli in Waitrose in little bags all washed and ready to cook. Can I stick them in the freezer, after buying them, and pull them out ready to cook on Christmas day. I am not sure - and it doesn't say anything about freezing on the bag ?

I would blanch them first.

If they are going to be used by Christmas I wouldn't bother blanching them - that tends to be for long term storage.

Sprouts don't freeze that well. If you've ever tried ready frozen ones you'll know why

Thanks for all your tips - but I'm cooking the turkey now, and my daughter is doing the veg. I'll be OK with the turkey.

I agree with dzug. For future reference don't freeze them Buy them, leave them in the bottom of the fridge for a month, then compost them... Yeuch LOL

Can I suggest that you buy fresh whole veg and use the huge amount of money saved to make a contribution to a charity of your choice ( mine would be the Dogs Trust...http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/ )

If they are for christmas day, just keep the bag in your fridge - they should be fine.
