CAR VOLTAGES IN THE USA

Hi Folks

Perhaps a silly question, however ....

Are car voltages in the USA the same as cars in the UK ? My reason for asking is that I intend to use a UK Tom Tom in the USA using an in-car charger to keep it going and am concerned that I might 'fry' my sat nav if US cars work on different voltages to that of my in-car charger ....

Yes. It would be a bit awkward for car manufactures if they had to produce totally different electrical components for different countries!
The voltage is the same but you may find that your machine isn't configured for use in the US. You may have to puchase the map data from TomTom.
I downloaded US maps and took mine 2 years ago, only problem I found was that due to the highways being so close to each other sometimes, the Satnav got a bit confused, apart from that came in very handy. Go for it and enjoy.
