I bought some Command brand damage free stick up micro hooks from B&Q and the instruction says to clean the area with Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol and not to use household cleaners, does anyone know what else I could use as I don't have any Isopropyl Alcohol. Thanks, Kath.

Rubbing alcohol is the same as surgical spirit. Most chemists stock it, so should be easy enough to get.
I've used nail varnish remover, but you have to be careful what surface you're using it on.

Thank you so much. I don't know why they have to give such fancy names to common solvents. I was going to use a drop of brandy (ooh, what a waste that would have been). Kath. :-)
Don't use nail varnish remover on anything that is plastic. It contains acetone and will completely ruin most plastic surfaces.

Isopropyl alcohol is commonly found in CD cleaners etc. It is not surgical spirit. You might get some from a good old fashioned ironmonger. Methylated spirits would be a good alternative.
Bought some Isopropyl Alcohol on E Bay for a a couple of pounds for a big bottle.
Hope this helps

Hi everyone, thanks for all your replys. I ended up returning the hooks and bought some ordinary ones from the supermarket. Kath. :-)
