In it's absence, I have for dinner...

Rare roast sirloin of beef, roast King Edwards, roasted shallots, cauliflower cheese made with St Agur, Emmental and a spring onion (fridge leftovers need using up!), and steamed broccoli. I would have done Yorkshire pud but I feel the veg contingent is too dominant to warrant a Yorkie :-(

Starter will be a G&T and pud will be a wee dram!!!

Thanks Eccles.

Looks nice Mark.
I don't know... I'll have to wait until I finish work in half an hour to see what mum's cooking. It's probably pizza or something :-)
Had a friend round for the weekend (she's just gone home). We both love pizza, so we had pepperoni pizza with garlic bread, but started with tomato soup and finished with a cuppa and a cream filled mince pie ! Went down very well too.
Roasted sea bass and king prawns with new pots followed by a hot choccy fudge cake with a double Cornish cream.......pt of Ratters (v. local cider that is, not dog pee from the namesake in Devon) as an aperitif, a Sauv Blanc with the fish and a Carmene Merlot with dessert.....

Aaaah, the tum is content.

Some Xmas presents now wrapped and cards done, Elderman replied to on his Evolution thread, fire to be lit shortly, snooker on for sleep induction and then maybe some writing to be attempted.
Thankyou Eccles, I do know how to cook them but they never seem to come out well. The trick is having the fat or oil just hot enough [and that's where I
go wrong] because they always go soggy on the bottom!
you have it, eccles, searing hot works.....

Interesting wiki answer to stotties. I had understood they were the scraps of dough left at the end of the day and thrown into the dying bread oven. Basically, peasants food because it was all they could afford.

I might be judged as a food snob on here by some but my Jarrow marcher uncle and his family taught me something.....or not.
Thought so :-)
sausage crumble here :)
Haven't decided yet

Cupid - I've never had difficulty getting the fat hot enough it's always been the batter that let me down. My new version of equal parts has proved an absolute winner. I'm a tad gutted that I can't do yorkies tonight but we have too much veg to get through to justify doing them :-( Yorkies are fab!
Sorry for not doing the Sunday thread yesterday. I had a long drive back to Hampshire after spending the weekend with my family in Hereford

My mother and I visited the German Market in Birmingham on Saturday and there were some amazing foods on offer. However, we resisted temptation and stuck with our plan to dine at Bar Estilo in the Mailbox. I managed to pick up a bottle of Terrier Jouet in Harvey Nicks which I am saving for Christmas day.

Yesterday my Nan cooked a full on Christmas dinner and then I set off about half one.

All in all, a lovely weekend.
i missed mine - and worked 15 hours instead. not best pleased...
Perrier Jouet. Lol

Stupid bloody phone.
