Gordon Gray's annual Charity Christmas Puzzle 2011 is now available and can be downloaded FOC from www.christmaspuzzle.co.uk. This year the theme is Snakes and Ladders.

Perhaps they are still trying to work out the instructions - I am with this one.

When we've got the answers to the words with the dashes, is that the answer or do we than have to come up with 19 words (13 + 6) using those letters.
Maybe a large mug of coffee will help

Perhaps the 1500 weren't prepared to pay the "suggested" minimum donation of £10. If the quizsetter had only charged £1 or £2 he might have got more entries!

Also confused Famous5. Downloaded this last night and read the first 2 pages several times (and the top of Page 1), hasnt helped at all

You need to find a word that will fit in and complete all 120 word clues. To help with the answers you need to find the names of 13 snakes (working downwards) and 6 types of ladder (working upwards), using the first letter of your answers.

Once you have a few answers and able to work out the names of some of the snakes, it becomes easier. This quiz has been going for many years and has raised over £40000 for charity. If it's new to you, it does take a bit of getting used to. From experience, it helps a lot to have an up to date Chambers Dictionary.

Hi smouse, just to let you know I've already completed it as it's quite an easy one this year, although one or two of the snakes are tricky.
With being available on the net, it's always going to get a lot of downloads but people not sending it in.

Brokenbank as you have completed this and I have done quite a lot - can you please let me know if there are any corrections? Do not want, or need, answers just a yes or no, please?
I would go on his website but have great difficulty for some reason it continually drops me out of Internet. Had a job to download and a great hassle to get any page up. Thanks

There were two corrections which have both been incorporated into the downloadable version of the quiz.

I am surprised to learn of difficulties in downloading as I've taken five copies with no problems.

Thanks brokenbank. No difficulty downloading just getting on site. It continually drops out of Internet. Have had this trouble for ages but only with his site. Will get it by email next year.
