(Revelation 17:8 ) The Bible sheds much light on the meaning of symbolic beasts. Like the lion, a bear, a leopard, and a fearsome beast with big teeth of iron. It tells us that these beasts represent “kings,” or kingdoms, or governments that rule in succession over mankind.

Elderman.. stick to the bible. you do not even begin to understand evolution. Dinosaurs did not suddenly appear or suddenly disappear, they are sitting on you roof and digging up worms in your garden(if you have one).In science you have to accept what is obvious and uneniable even if it conflicts with your assumptions or preconceptions. At least one has an opportunity to modify ideas to fit the new information and thus improve ones understanding. All you are doing in studying the bible is fossilizing your brain and ignoring things that conflict with it.

Such reasoning reminds one of the story told of the little old Fundamentalist lady who was being shown through the Dinosaur National Monument in Utah. She did not believe the park ranger’s speech about the huge reptiles that had once lived there and whose fossilized bones she was seeing. She offered another explanation for them: “The Lord put them there to fool you.”
So speaking of dinosaurs, where do they fit into the creationists’ scheme of things? In their view, human beings and dinosaurs and every other kind of animal, extinct or extant, lived on earth at the same time before the Flood. They were all swept away together in a grand mélange by the Floodwaters. How, then, do they account for the orderly sequence of fossils in sedimentary rocks, starting with simple forms of life in the lower strata and followed by increasingly diverse and complex creatures in higher strata? They can only offer a set of implausible and contradictory theories as to how all kinds of plants and animals could have been sorted out of the potpourri of carcasses and laid down in separate layers.
You still spouting forth your drivel......I guess you are still short of your daily quota, the Key Perfomance Indicator your brainwasher sets for you. Oh well, crank out a few more and then the rest of us can be spared the waffle.
Elderman, I was intrigued by your latest post. Am I correct in getting the impression that you accept that the theory of evolution has some validity or do you need to do a rewrite?

What does this monstrous animal picture? Under inspiration, John provides an important clue: “Authority was given it over every tribe and people and tongue and nation.” (Revelation 13:7) What exercises authority over every person living on earth? Only one thing: the worldwide system of political rulership. Does this system really receive authority from “the dragon,” Satan? The Bible answers yes.
// I don't get your point, Ludwig. //

Simply that it looks like Elderman who's doing the poking, not the other way around.
Elderman, //“Authority was given it over every tribe and people and tongue and nation.”//

If you believe your God to be the creator then it follows that he created Satan, and the power that Satan allegedly possesses. Therefore your God is ultimately responsible. He can have no excuse.
Where exactly does it say that God is a kindly, avuncular, old chap, perhaps a bit like the popular image of Santa?
Ah, I see, Ludwig. I thought you might have been suggesting that the lunatics were going on jaunts to Kensington and poking toffs with sticks, which would also have been the opposite of what I suggested!
With care in the community such a suggestion isn't as outlandish as it might first seem.
Quite, Sandy, but the authorities in the 18th/19th centuries - rather like Thatcher in the 20th - were fully aware that "the community" didn't give a good goldarn about such people. Her error was just to turn them out anyway.

Britannia is a personification of the UK, originating from the Roman occupation of southern and central Great Britain. Britannia is symbolized as a young woman with brown or golden hair, wearing a Corinthian helmet and white robes. She holds Poseidon’s three-pronged trident and a shield, bearing the Union Flag. Sometimes she is depicted as riding the back of a lion.
The lion has also been used as a symbol of the UK; one is depicted behind Britannia on the 50 pence piece and one is shown crowned on the back of the 10 pence piece, it is also used as a symbol on the non-ceremonial flag of the British Army. Lions have been used as heraldic devices many times, including in the royal arms of both the kingdoms of England, Scotland and Kingdom of Gwynedd in Wales. The lion is featured on the emblem of the England national football team, giving rise to the popular football anthem Three Lions.
The bulldog is sometimes used as a symbol of the Great Britain. Do you recognize these emblems?
Other countries also use beasts (animals) to represent the country eg Eagle – USA.

Well, certain numbers used in the Bible have symbolic meanings, but only within the context of the Scriptures in which they are used. For example, the number four is used to denote allness or universalness. This idea is conveyed in such expressions as “four extremities of the earth” and “four winds of the heavens.” (Isaiah 11:12; Daniel 8:8) At times, the number six represents imperfection. Interestingly, the number given to Satan’s earthly political organization by the book of Revelation is “a man’s number”—666. (Revelation 13:18) Here six is raised to the third degree, underscoring the imperfection of that beastly organization. When the number seven is used in a symbolic way, it represents completeness. (Leviticus 4:6; Hebrews 9:24-26) These and other symbolic numbers used in the Scriptures gain meaning from their prophetic context.
Although the Scriptures give a measure of importance to certain numbers, the Bible does not encourage us to link the letters of certain words with numbers to uncover mystical truths.
Thanks, elderman.
I tried a test and found a remarkable result.

The following Visual Basic Script finds the sum of the ASCII values of text typed into its input box. Sorry it only works on Windows.

Copy the script into a text file, change the extension to .vbs and run it.

Input = Inputbox("Enter text to calculate")
For i = 1 to Len(Input)
Total = Total + Asc(Mid(input,i,1))
Next
msgbox Input & " = " & Total

Rather than denoting a person who is lacking in mental ability, the word “fool,” as used in the Bible, generally refers to an individual who spurns reason and follows a morally insensible course out of harmony with God’s righteous standards.
I understand the word fool to mean a fruit dessert . The number 32 can be derived from the sequence 1 2 4 8 16 32 whereby the following number is twice the last and next to zero on a roulette wheel . The figure John Bull is often depicted as a persoification of Great Britain ; he wears a union flag waistcoat and has rost cheeks therefore God sentences all unbeleivers to eternal damnation - is that clear ?
