I read the 17th edition does not denote a figure but I might be wrong. it only gives bathroom specs. Therefore rule of thumb being 30cm sink to socket?

Anyone know? Thanks in advance

There is no definitive figure - that's why you can't find one!

It does, however, say you should design an installation with regard to the envirnmental factors and use the correct parts in this respect. NICEIC (who don't actually write the rules - they just like folks to think they do!) make the suggestion of 30cm I believe.
Correct .. There is no figure given.
However, it still makes sense to prevent anyone 'at' a sink or basin from reaching a socket .. however the system is protected.
300mm is the absolute minimum, so far as I am concerned.

thanks guys
It must be 30ma protected and if its within the splash zone it must be IP rated accordingly

well my electrian said I could not have a the socket at all, and the wall has now been plastered so it looks like a no go zone, it's just annoying if I could have had it after all. Where I live now in rented there is a socket right next the sink and it had passed the checks/reg's but I didn't realise in time to comment regarding my new houses installation
