This makes no sense to me so am just looking for a little insight...

i have ptosis (i hate that word) that was sorted out when i was about 13 with surgery - i was told id end up sleeping with my eyes open which was indeed true, and they said id get dry eyes because of that, which i never did!

until i was about 20 yeeears down the line - i tried everything and nothing worked ever - in the end it got so far out of control that it caused photophobia, to the extreme where minimal light was very painful. long story short being blind in one eye they removed it - then suddenly everything was better

they had no idea what had happened and assumed that something went wrong with my blind eye which affected both eyes but once the blind eye was gone everything was fine. since then i get wierd symtoms that make no sense...

every now and then (and i mean like rarley) i wake up and my eyes are red raw and my eyelids are swollen and once again i get this photophobia, i have to wear sunglasses until about 3-4 hours later it stops. the majority of the time without any drops or anything its totally fine... then randomly, like now, bang, it lasts for a whole month...

inexplicable... why is it okay for 90% of a year then suddenly goes schizo on me for 10% of the time...?

Have you had your eyes examined during this flare up time? Any mention of blepharitis or associated keratitis by the medical examining your eyes.
I get something similar. I bathe my eyelids in water as hot as I can stand it. If I apply the heat for about five minutes it seems to release the oils that would normally come out of the lids and lubricate the eye's surface. Was told to do this regularly by Moorfields and it always sems to prevent it happening. Worth trying.

anythings worth a try lol :P to be honest the eye hospital i went to was a joke and unless ive got a shotgun pellet stuck in my eye i aint going back outta priniciple...

long story short but lets just say i was used as a guinea pig thanks to a junior doing surgery on me when he wasnt fully qualified and didnt have a proper consultant / senior doctor watching over... so everything went to hell

so in terms of diagnosis... nobody knows?! all my hospital notes dont make sense or are illegiable... convinenant eh? the health care commision (as previously known in the NHS) had another doctor look over the files and they confirmed themselves in an 8 page letter what a joke and shambles the whole thing was from start to finish...

sorry for the rant but since i was a kid i got messed around by this arrogant no good doctors
