Thanks everyone,

My understanding is that to gain a conviction, penetration has to have occurred, however, Rape can also be a sex act perpetrated on a person without their consent.

It all depends on what you personally might call rape.

No that is not correct, getting a conviction has nothing to do with what you personally think is rape! the definition of rape is defined by law not your personal view.

Ratter is correct. It is not what you think or believe or feel. It has to be orifice penetration against ones will. It is clearly laid down by statute what constitutes rape, it is not 'what you feel etc'
