I'm looking at booking a holiday to Serrekunda, Gambia in January. Has anyone been there on holiday and did it feel safe? We have two young children. Any advice on going?

Thank you.

not for yonks... but when I went there, must have been in the 1980s, it felt perfectly safe. Tripadvisor seems to rate the hotels and resorts highly

So it doesn't sound as if you need to leave the pool, but there were interesting trips into the jungle or you could just watch fishing boats landing their catch. It's pretty hot year-round so keep the kids covered up.
Hi MIL goes as often as she can , loves it there . I don't think she would if it were dodgy ! .

Gambia is safe.
I have an old school friend who lives there with 4 children.
Guess I have to say it for continuity (White British born).
They don't have any issues.
She does warn about avoiding the mad season , where things heat up and it becomes very humid.
