I was fortunate enough to win a prize recently. It was a normal size ballpoint pen. I have just measured the box it came in at 190 x 95 x 34 mm. The only other thing in the box was the multi-language guarantee paper.
It was also delivered by DHL.
This seems extreme overkill to me. Anyone else had deliveries with silly packaging?

I've bought the daughter an electric toothbrush for Xmas.....I haven't opened the box yet but it must measure approx 12" x 12"...
Whenever I order anything from Superdrug they always package it in a large box with lots of scrunched up paper packaging. Sports Direct are even worse, they once sent me a single pair of trainers in a 36"x18"x18" box.
I think small items are put in large packages so that they don't get mislaid.
Staples are the worst offenders of this in the world. I ordered a single cartridge for my printer and the box was 2 feet wide and a foot high!! The delivery guy thought the box was empty, it was so light!
Tried getting toys out of packaging at Christmas or a child's birthday? They're a nightmare. Not only do they come with excessive plastic and cardboard, they are bound to it all with twine, some cases screwed on said packaging and in the case of Barbie dolls- their hair is sewn onto it too!

So true Boo! Ive nearly thrown toys across the room on many a Christmas morning! Oh and another one - I bought a new pair of scissors and they were sealed in such rigid packaging that what did I need to open it? Scissors!!

Fruit Polos used to be very overwrapped and also razor blades too.

Can any other readers think of anything else?
Apples from M&S - they come in their own tray with a plastic lid, and then the unit as a whole is wrapped in plastic.

So there are three pieces of unneccesary packaging.

And then they charge 5p for a carrier bag for, apparently, environmental reasons.

Surely if they were that concerned about the environment they wouldn't feel the need to wrap 4 apples in 3 separate bits of packaging.
Multi vitamins which only come halfway up the inside of the plastic container, why can't they use containers half the size?
Maybe that's just a clever ploy Joe? You think you're getting a massive bottle of expensive useless crap, when in reality you're paying for half a massive bottle of expensive useless crap....
flip_flop,couldn't agree more about M&S,everything is overpacked(If there is such a word)and Joeluke, have you ever bought tubs of Bisto Gravy Granules? Just over half full.
