As well as Susan Hill, are there any other modern day authors (living or ...) who have written ghost stories, preferably English ones and not full of blood and gore? Ta Muchly.

Many Thanks Jack!...I tried that book once, but thought it was a little slow at times, but will try it again after your recommendation. Aint heard of that one Sid, so will go look for it and give it a listen. Thanks Both!
Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger.. a bit weird, set in modern London but about American twins

The Winter Ghosts by Kate Mosse.I'm not usually into ghost stories but I enjoed this.

In the 50s I used to read Dennis Wheatley books, they were brilliant. Don't know whether you can get them now, but lots of black magic

Many Thanks Helly, yes I remember The Devil Rides Out by DW, but I think it's unavailable at the moment in the format I need, but I'll keep an eye open for it!...smile.
Phil Rickman's "Merrily Watkins" series is worth a look. The later ones aren't as creepy as the earlier ones, though.

Many Thanks Lem...., but I've heard these many times over and most of them are great...a bit more than ghost stories though....I think my fave, in fact I know my fave is The Woman In Black...I've listy to it more than 100 times!
