i want to get a 2tb desktop hard drive.

can anyone recommend something <£100. the reviews i have read on some are that they are slow, noisey, and more often have 1.7tb.

so any recommendations for a quiet, quick and decent usable one greatly received.

any HDD will "lose" some space once formatted, as to noise and speed check the manafacturers tech spec and then compare to other HDD's

I think the speed issue is due to the amount of data you would transfer as 2GB is quite large and your PC probably has USB 2 Ports. Which for that amount of data isn't that quick. If you have a new PC with USB 3 ports then it will be quicker. If your PC does not have USB 3 it is probably a good idea to buy the hard drive with USB 3 compability as then you are future proofing your investment. USB 3 drives do work on USB 2 PC's but at USB 2 speeds.
