Android Phone using Satellite

My HTC Sensation has recently started to use it's satellite connection on occasions throughout the day without my intervention. The satellite symbol flashes at the top of the screen to indicate that it's in touch with a satellite.

I've looked at my apps to see if anything unusual is showing when the phone is connected to the satellites but nothing appears to be amiss. I can't seem to find any setting that will show me what app is connected to the satellite at any given time.

Short of deleting my apps, is there any way I can find out what exactly is connecting to the satellite? I'm on a 3 contract with totally unlimited internet so I'm not being charged for accessing the satellite - I'm checking my bills daily. Nevertheless, it's very annoying to see the phone doing something I have no influence over.

thank you.
