Sometimes my dongle doesn't talk with the usb ports on my pc, or the other way around. I usually stick it into another port and wait.

I know a techie will give you better information but can you, somehow, remove the memory stick set-up and re-install?
Which system are you using?
I think some of the earlier systems (Win 98, etc.) did not have a built-in driver for memory sticks and you were supplied with a driver on a CD when you bought the stick.
Unless you mean that the stick is not recognised now whereas it used to be??
I have absolutely no idea why the following might work but I found a thread which suggested that it has done so for several people. Since it can't do any harm (and it doesn't cost anything!) it might be worth a try:

Plug the stick into a USB port.
Close your PC.
Unplug the power cord.
Hold the start button of your PC in for 5 or 6 seconds, then release.
Plug the power cord back in and restart your PC.

thanks for all the info.....issue now resolved..........manky laptop altogether....exchanged!
The problem is usually the operating system trying to assign a duplicate drive letter. Go to control panel admin tools and change the letter of the stick.
