I have been losing signal on some channels (which channels varies) for several hours at a time (message - 'signal is not being received'). Last night it was all channels up to 2330 hrs. What might be the reason for this?

The weather
i often that get during certain weather conditions, a few months ago it got worse so i checked the dish to find it had come a bit loose , a few bolts tightened and it eliminated 90% of my lost signal problems, still get the message during a storm or heavy rain though.
Question Author
I have discounted the weather as my neighbours are not affected.

I,ll check the dish at the weekend. However, why might only some channels be affected?
IF the dish is slightly out of alignment or there is something in the way of the signal, i.e. A tree that has grown and is now full of leaves this could cause this to happen, have you tried a full reset of the box, be careful though as you will loose what you have on the planner. Instructions on the Internet, worth a try
Forgot to say as the channels are in blocks over an arc this can happen.
i often wondered why only some channels seeing as they all come from the same satelite, seems the bigger ie, BBC/ITV/Sky1 are less affected..

Thanks everybody
when mine was playing up quite badly i purchased a sat finder (e bay) to realign it myself, it was only when i looked at the dish closely i realised a couple of the bolts were loose , the ones that actually atached it to the house ,which were enough to put it off line and lose the signal when the wind blew.

I finally got it sorted. There was a problem with my box - basically it had partially crashed. It was resolved by switching it off for around 3 mins. Simple once you know! Once again thanks to all.
Most things in the world these days can be cured by switching off and on again.

I can't find the switch on 'er indoors though.
