How do I find out how much it would cost to post an extremely heavy, large parcel to the USA? I've tried the royal mail website, but they don't show prices for that heavy (almost 60kg!). Is there a courier service that would sort it out, and if so, how much would it cost?

Have you tried the websites for DHL, UPS etc.?

An estimate of the cost would be around 300-400
might work out cheaper to get a flight and take it as luggage!!
Parcel Force deliver to the USA, with prices calculated as follows:
159.75 for the first 30kg + 1.75 per additional 0.5kg.
Thus, a 60kg package would cost 264.75.

The tariff Chris has used above is that of the International Scheduled service which has no weight-limit for multiple consignments but is restricted to a maximum of 30kg per individual parcel.

So as long as you can split your parcel into lighter packages...
My thanks go to Kempie for his information (which is omitted from Parcel Force's downloadable spreadsheet!).

Another suggestion: Try a phone call to Anglo Pacific (020 8965 1234). The prices on their web site seem quite reasonable but, without exact weight and measurements, it's hard to predict exactly what they'll quote.

Thanks everyone. I can't split the package - it's just one huge item. I'll look into the suggestions above - if anyone's got any more, keep 'em coming.
If its not time critical, try looking in your yellow pages for Freight Forwarders. They will deliver it by putting it into a groupage container and thus by ship. It may take a couple of months, but should be a lot cheaper than DHL etc.
