Bottom toolbar

The bottom toolbar has disappeared from my laptop, the one where you can place shorcuts, (show desktop, microsoft outlook and internet explorer etc.), can someone help me by explaining in laymans terms as I'm a bit of a technophobe.

I am assuming XP ... Win7 is similar.
It's possible you have dragged it off somewhere .. look around edges with mouseand see if you can grab it up from there first.
R Click the start button .. Properties/Taskbar Tab .. look at settings there (uncheck 'hide', check 'on top of')
