I have had a leg amputated during the past few weeks. Can anyone tell me if that qualifies me for Disabled Living Allowance?
I'm 72. Does my age disqualify me?

Hello bosschester - hope all is going well with physio and the like. Mamya is correct, but have you thought of enquiring about attendance allowance? Have a look on the link - the claim form can be obtained from your local Jobcentre Plus office, by phoning the Benefits Enquiry Service or downloadable on the link....

I am afraid you are over the age limit for DLA. Contact the benefits agency to make sure you are getting all the help you are entitled to.

Thanks Mamalynn and ttfn - [with a handle like that, you must be nearly as old as me was it Charlie Chesters !]
I shall have to start phoning tomorrow. The physio say that I'll be driving by Christmas, but I'm not so sure. Thanks for your concern
You could try your local citizens advice bureau, they would be best at informing you of what you can and cannot claim for and help fill out forms as well. As a below the knee amputee, they have looked after me very well. good luck!
