At lunchtime today I delivered a gift basket to a lady in an old folks home, she's 100 years old today, and apart from being a little deaf, she still has all her faculties. I asked her the secret of longevity, she said:
She'd only ever 'been' with one man in her life, that was her late husband of 61 years standing, her father told her never touch margarine, have a laugh, get some fresh air and she has a 'nip of brandy' every night! So now you know!

id rather have sex than live to 100 having only slept with my ex hubby.
Good on her. Is she on AB as well?
I only want to reach 100 if I'm still able to play football and run then.
Well, I better find a man pretty quickly.
I am doomed to die young then, although I do get fresh air!!

ughhhh
I do not want to live to 100...
It's pretty much a given you'll outlive everyone closest to you at that age. No ta.
I don't want to live to 100! Good job really because I don't like brandy!
Well done to her though, if she was happy with her husband for 61 years and enjoyed having a laugh then she's obviously had a happy 100 years!
oh good god i should be dead already
Difficult to say. At one time I couldn't contemplate being 64!!

I suppose life is precious even at 100 if you have all your faculties. I just don't want to end up living in a care home. But who knows - I might enjoy it!!

I go into quite a few care homes delivering baskets, I see good and bad. Bad ones tend to smell of wee, boiled cabbage and for some reason wet dog, this one is a good one, always smells clean and has fresh flowers. They take them on trips, or on nice days let them sit in the garden, some places the poor people are left asleep in front of cartoons on a TV.
To be honest i'd rather die young (younger?) than be stuffed into a God's waiting room (retirement home). The thought of that fills me horror.
I know Rapunzel. Have seen a few too, including 2 horrible ones where my poor mum had periods of respite. Eventually found her a really lovely one like you mention which was more like a private hotel than a care home and no more expensive either. Depends so much on the management!!
and I have heard some real horror stories, even my own sisters, who is in one NZ,, must be the same all over
Some are quite nice BOO. I have reserved a room in the one my one was in. Even can have my own patio and garden and a room with French windows. And lovely food too. And a puss cat!!

Not long to wait!! :o(
the one my MUM was in. Think I will get there quicker than I thought!!
and DEN53 had a horrific time with a previous care home her dear lold Mam was in
I had the same sort of experience in the one my Mum was in before the nice one Bobbi. I got her out as quickly as I could!!
I can only imagine the heartache it must have caused Lottie, for those involved
The ones my Nan and Grandad are in are very nice. Although my Nan did escape recently....that was scary.
