I love my little portable Casio TV - will it become totally defunct after digital switchover? Can I buy anything to make it digital - if so, I will be so annoyed as it will just have to be thrown in the bin and was a Christmas gift - yet another waste of a product as a result of this stupid switchover!

Yes, there are small terrestrial DVB tuners but you first need to make sure that your small TV has a video/audio in facility so it can be used as a monitor. I doubt it.

There are even terrestrial receivers as small as a large USB stick but they need a USB port to plug into. The small receivers are not renowned for their excellent reception and always do better when attached to a proper UHF aerial.
probably easier and cheaper to just replace it.
