We are about to sell a property in Spain. We understand the Spanish side of the fees, taxes, etc. We haven't decided whether to leave the sales proceeds in Spain or bring them back to the UK.

Does anyone know how the UK Revenue view proceeds of sale of a foreign property or suggest somewhere I could find out? Are there UK taxes to pay if we bring the money back?

If you are resident in the UK, then there would probably be a Capital Gain issue here to be paid to the IR in UK.

Apart from that I can't see any other tax issues.

I am not an expert and would be interested in other answers.
Judging from reports about property prices in Spain, CGT may not be a problem.
sandy LOL.....it depends how long they have had the property........but your point is well taken.
