I want to have a multi fuel stove installed. What are your opinions on the difference between steel and cast iron models? Any make/ model suggestions wd be good too. Thanks

Hi - my husband has a business selling and installing multi fuel stoves. There're so many to choose from and will depend greatly on your budget and your taste. Get a few companies in to give you quotes (you might be surprised at the installation costs) but I would avoid any firms that charge you for a quote. (PS - just asked my husband and he reckons a steel stove (which heats up quickly) with cast iron doors would be his preference.)
Valor Hamlet is a pretty one .. just fitted one of those for a customer. Flue out top or out of rear and then up.
Scandanavian makes are pretty good. Morso particularly.
Steel are cheaper to kake .. and don't retain heat for anywhere near as long as cast iron .. so far as I am concerned.
A lot of the cheaper ones (like the 200 quid ones on eBay) are pretty naff quality (so far as I'm concerned) and they are so small inside, one cannot use decent size logs .. they have to be cut down. The ash pans are so tiny too.
So make sure the space inside on the grate is enough, and make sure it has an airwash system built in. And don't go too oversized .. they can cook the room!

Ive got the installation sorted, Im having a new gas system at the same time - my ancient rayburn died beyond repair:( I need one as a room heater, so not huge. There are so many to choose from so I need to narrow it down a bit.
