Hi,

I have recently purcheased something on ebay but when i tried to pay via paypal, with the invoice i was sent the payment was held as pending / processing. I cannot see why this should happen, as both my cards on file are valid and well in credit. I've used both ebay and paypal since 2002 without any problems until now. Does anyone know what might be causing the problem.

Probably not much help but a buyer of something I sold this week said he had problems and his payment did not go through but sorted after a couple of days.
It sounds like a hiccup with PayPal - if I were you I would get in touch with them via the Contact Us link on your home page.
The only time I've had delays is if someone pays me with a e-cheque, which seem to take forever to clear, otherwise my purchases and sales transactions on PayPal are usually immediate.
If everything your end is ok then it suggest the seller has the incorrect email address set for payment on his/her a/c

Have you checked the expiry date on the card used as a back up?
A payment remains pending until the seller takes receipt of the money. Most sellers receive payments automatically however it is the case (since PayPal began) that some sellers must take manual action before the funds clear to their account. Congratulations on having used PayPal for 9 years before encountering this type of delay; my first pending payment was in 2004.
The seller may, in some circs have to send an item before funds enter THEIR PP a/c but this would not show on the buyers side; the payment would show as complete
That's a buyer issue with Paypal account .. not your problem!
(sorry .. should have said Paypal processing method for buyer)
It will correct itself.
op is the buyer albags??
Yes I know.
I'm not sure why you say, if it is, as you say a buyer issue, it's not the op's problem?

It is not the buyers end it is the sellers
