What does Angela Wesselman suffer with? (The woman from the film 'Catfish').
Is what she did a crime? I've tried to find out whether she actually suffered with a mental illness but am struggling to find any answers. The reason I ask is because someone I know is doing almost the EXACT same thing that she did in the film. Is it schizophrenia? Multiple Personality Disorder? I'd really appreciate any help.

i think she suffered from an over active imagination and was very very lonely. She had a pretty miserable life, caring for those boys, who weren't her own, and needed a fantasy to match 'what she could have been'.
(In my opinion)
Do you mean that your friend is deceiving someone deliberately?
There is a lot of question of whether that film is real or not.

But if someone is posing as someone else on the internet it doesn't mean there is something wrong with them.
is this a real'friend' emma_llew? Or is you? ♥

I knew people would think it was me! No, it's a relative. I also just posted another question in relation to this one about how this person shows signs of mental illness. Please take a look, it'll help you understand the situation more...

The fact of whether the film was real or not is irrelevant; there are real people out there doing these things. I read that the woman says she's been diagnosed with Schizophrenia, but obviously that could be a lie.
And yes, this is deliberate deception.

Thanks very much for those links.
What a great film. I wondered if it was true ...
there are elements of the story which look convincingly contrived, but in real terms someone displaying such behaviour may well have:

(this is not the same as schizophrenia, in case you are wondering)
