About 10 minutes ago I posted a moan about the CS in Tesco on another thread.

Just after I did this I got a call from one of our subbies saying the Travelodge I had booked him into for tonight needed to be changed to a different one. So I called Travelodge customer services and asked if it was possible to transfer my booking to a different hotel. When the woman on the phone simply said, "no", I asked if there was a reason in a very polite manner and got the response, "I don't know, I didn't write the policy". I just thought the reply and the tone of voice she used was so rude. I thanked her for her help and hung up.

Don't the individuals who work for companies give a monkeys at all about how they come across to their customers?

Some don't care....some might just be having a bad day....most are okay.
I would have asked her name or to speak to her supervisor. Mostly I find people ok to deal with but where they've been unreasonable, I simply go over their heads and make sure they know I've done it. It usually gets the response I was looking for in the first place.
I have found the Tesco complaint department one of the best I have ever come across - if you feel strongly enough, I would let them know - there is a link on the website I think.
when I worked for a certain London council when we were a bit cheeky and someone asked to speak to our superior we just used to hand the phone over to a mate who said "supervisor can I help you" and she used to calm them down ! but the caller never actually spoke to anyone in charge just us who took it turns to put on a stern voice !
No they don't, going on how many you come across, on the phone to utility company, no don't have that information right now, in the supermarket, no don't know where that is, in the doctors surgery, no you won't be seen this side of Christmas.
BT is the shining light for me in crappy customer service, I once spent over two hours on the phone to them when all I wanted to do was buy broadband and calls. Then at the end of it all I had to cancel it all and start again because the line wasn't installed according to them even though I was looking at it at the time. I hate to think how long it takes to complain.
Most phone, internet companies seem the same, agree about BT, but Talktalk take the biscuit, and the blasted teapot in poor customer care.
I once stayed in a hotel in Newquay & my wife & myself joined another couple in the lift which got stuck between floors when the lift was eventually winched down back to ground floor the female manager was awaiting us & as we stepped out she said '' there should only be 4 people in this lift at any one time''I looked at her in amazement & said very slowly watch my lips & I counted 1,2,3,4. She flounced off without saying another word.

Complain, milly - she might be having a bad day, but it's her job to be civil. There is a relocation policy here at point 9. and the last para tells you where to complain to. http://www2.travelodge.co.uk/terms/
