I'm giving James Frey's "The Last Testament of the Holy Bible" a go. It's alright, but it suffers from voices which feel really inauthentic, which is particularly problematic as the story is told in a pseudo-confessional style through several different voices!

There is just enough there to keep me reading for a little while longer though.

I'll lower the intellectual tone considerably as I only read 1 book a year and that's while on holiday. This year it was Chances by Freya North - total garbage but in my defence I grabbed it from Smiths about 10 mins before boarding.
I'm reading Charlie Chaplin's Autobiography at the moment but also have Insomnia by Stephen King sitting next to my bed which i'm too scared to open haha :)
Well my reading sounds a lot lighter than all yours, can't get into anything too deep. I'm in the middle of getting through the first ten AGATHA RAISIN books. Very easy to read, and quite amusing.
I am reading Before I go to sleep by SJ Watson.

It is a good thriller mystery book.
Innocent Traitor...by Alison Weir (The life and Death of Lady Jane Grey)

Shields of Pride....by Elizabeth Chadwick (1173. The rebellious sons of King Henry 11)

..alternating between the two books...as the mood takes me.
just finished 'started early, took my dog' and have taken delivery of my kindle today - hoorah! - so have been busy trawling through amazon this afternoon, downloading cheapo and freebie books to get me started. not quite sure what i'll be reading in bed later but it'll be one of the 15 i've downloaded today.
interesting comments about 'girl with dragon tattoo' etc. i was tempted to buy the 3 in the series for my kindle but decided to read through some of the ones i got for free (or very cheap) before spending any proper money. maybe i'll borrow the books from my neighbour instead, won't cost me a penny!
Nine Dragons by Michael Connelly.
The Old Curiosity Shop which is a Dickens I've never got around to reading before. Just love the beautifully crafted prose and the comic / grotesque characterisations.

Re reading Wonderland Avenue: Tales of Glamour and Excess by Danny Sugerman
Coming in a bit late to this thread, but I see there are Jo Nesbo fans out there. I recently finished his first Harry Hole book and am now reading the second. But these haven't been translated into English yet, unfortunately. I've read all the ones that have been to date and when I read The Leopard in German, before it was out in paperback in English, I discovered that there were two books I'd never heard of - The Batman and The Cockroaches. So if you want to find out more about Harry's background and can read French, German or Norwegian (yes, I know it's a lot to ask - not sure if they've been translated into any other languages to date, either) then I suggest you get hold of them. Otherwise, I believe they'll be out in English in 2012. I recommend them both.
