Hi guys, could you help please. I didnt want to go to the doctors incase and waste their time if its nothing.

Anyway, the problem is i hate going outside to work, walking the dog, whatever it may be, especially on my own. I feel physically sick, head hurts like a constant headache whenever at work etc, it tightens up and i feel very nervous and anxious too, worrying about people judging me and generally worrying about all sorts. I feel very worried when walking around people I dont know etc. I just cannot stop worrying and want to get home in the security of my own home. I just wish I could walk without a care in the world like i used to a 1.5 year ago ish.

Anyone had this or know how to overcome it? This seems stupid to many so sorry for asking. I just didnt want to go to a doctor or whatever if its just down to me to sort it out.

Many thanks everyone,

Ash x

Hi ash sounds to me like a panic attack perhaps you have had a major upset recently - breakdown of a relationship or you have other worries, perhaps a visit to the doctor to reassure yourself that it is nothing more than psychological and then perhaps you can get some counselling help - I hope this helped you a little
It sounds like a form of agoraphobia, which includes having panick attacks when going outm and maybe dreading going out the house in the first place. My mother is cuurently suffering from this but hers is tied into depression. I'm sure there's someone on here though that may be able to help you further x
Sounds like you experience some sort of panic attack or agoraphobia. Doctors can deal with this and perhaps you should consider just seeing yours to explain how you feel. I'm sure there will be others on here to give their advice so I hope you manage to glean the information you want. Good luck with it Ash as it must be so debilitating for you.
*wrote my reply whilst others were posting so didn't see them* seems though that we are of the same mind.

thanks for your replies guys and girls, appreciate it. I wish your mum the best recovery mark, hope it goes well.

yeah i have a few other worries etc but i dont think they affect the way I currently feel. thing is I am a lot better if i am with a couple of other people, I just am a lot worse on my own.

ill look into counselling / aggrophobia and see what changes can be made.

many thanks all x
I was terrified of going up a ladder but eventually overcame it by going up 1 rung and then 1 more each time I tried. Perhaps you could try going out for 20 steps and each daydd another 20 or something like that. I do think you need to confront your fears to overcome them. I remember a TV show with a girl terrified of snakes doing similar small steps and she ended up OK with them.

thats very true too john, thanks for that. and well done on overcoming your fear of ladders.
You've said yourself that you didn't feel like this just 1.5 years ago. You need to tell yourself that you will recover. Others have suggested counselling and I agree.
This is an excellent and informative site.

There is lots of help out there. Just make sure you get it,as agoraphobia can be incapacitating. Take it from one who knows. If you have sympathetic friends or family-do talk to them also.
