bell? Peel?
BELL, PEEL or YELL? But I can't explain the "at the 16th watch"
The 16th letter is P but that doesn't seem to help
Is it just the two of us, Bernie?

Thanks. Hi boxtops - yes I couldn't see the revance of "the 16th" though
unless the other clue mentioned by headwreck is 16a or d?

Thanks to you all for all your answers. I will go with bell. I first thought the answer was 'fore' (warning in golf) but knew that it was wrong as all round were correct and fore would not fit in.
Slan
I think Bell is corect. The reference to 16 is probably 16 down, the answer to which is the angelus....
