The consensus is that the News of the World will be replaced by a Sunday Edition of the Sun or an effective rebranding of the NOTW under a different banner.
Can news international just print a sunday edition of the sun without having to apply for some liscense or would there have to be some legal process they would have to go through to be able to start a new title or a sunday edition of an existing newspaper. Just wondering this as it could possibly be blocked by the government as a cynical ploy on the part of NI to limit damage.

I don't think it would be a very good idea for politicians to block the press... Not a good precedent to set!
Whatever they bring out I certainly will not be buying it, but it would be wrong for the Government to block any Publication. We still need freedom of the Press for all Newspapers as long as it's legitimate reporting.

the government is very happy with cynical ploys by News Intl. They are very happy with anything Rupert Murdoch wants to do. The penny really only dropped with them a few days ago.
the domain names TheSunOnSunday.com and SunOnSunday.co.uk have also been registered in the last couple of days.
are you allowed to change your name? simples!
The question doesn't really make any sense:
it was Murdoch who voluntarily closed it down, so he can do as he pleases.
