But I was right, it's started already and it's only been up and running for an hour.......I knew once I bought myself a laptop the kids would want to borrow it. No. 2 grandson 'A' just asked me 'so i can email my friend' I said what did you do yesterday when I wasn't here, he replied, I text him so i said well text him today, but 'that costs money' so does borrowing this, £10 an hour i said. Am I being mean?

No, your laptop, your rules..
No, it's your laptop!
Do your grandkids live with you?
No ummmm, they rent space from him.
Buy them their own laptop - sorted
Better bet for grandchildren would be 'work for laptop access'
or charge them 5p an email to help you get the cost of ypur laptop back :)

we've got a PC, but my son is usually doing farm stuff on it, or my DIL does the household accounts - there are 4 children, from 7-15 somebody is usually doing homework. They had a choice Christmas Wi and games or a laptop - they chose the games consul.
how's Mercia? Not really been here last few days, so not been keeping up, so to speak.
Don't get an iPad - you'll never get your mitts on it again. Even the three year olds 'request' it to play on (under very watchful supervision).
